Leadership Team

We all come to work every day with a singular purpose: to be there for our members when it matters most. Our personnel are among the world’s most skilled professionals and our medical and security teams are staffed and led by combat-experienced military special operations veterans.

Operations Specialists

Our medical operations personnel include paramedics, nurses and physicians supported by the Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine Division of Special Operations, Mass General Brigham (the Harvard Medical School Affiliate), and Elite Medical Group. Our security and intelligence operations experts are comprised of military veterans, primarily from the special operations community.

Dan Richards

Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Richards has served as the chief executive officer of Global Rescue since he founded the company in 2004. He also serves as the president of Crisis Services Company, a Vermont-based captive insurance company. Mr. Richards has been a featured speaker on CNN, Fox News, NPR and other major media outlets regarding crisis response, mitigation and travel risk management topics. He currently serves on the U.S. Travel and Tourism Advisory Board at the U.S. Department of Commerce, is the lead director of the board of Re:wild, a science-based environmental conservation organization, is an ambassador for the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Team, and a global member of the World Travel and Tourism Council. Prior to founding Global Rescue, Mr. Richards spent a decade in the private equity and financial services industries.

Mr. Richards is a graduate of Middlebury College. He received his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College where he has served as an entrepreneur-in-residence.
Scott Hume

Vice President, Operations

Mr. Hume oversees medical, security and intelligence operations at Global Rescue. He served for over 20 years in the United States Army, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. His key assignments included roles as Executive Officer in the National Airborne Operations Center and Chief Operations Officer of the 3rd Brigade 25th Infantry Division. Prior to his military career, Mr. Hume was Company Commander in the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment. He is a graduate of Norwich University, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College, and the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies. Mr. Hume earned his MBA from the University of New Hampshire’s Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics.
Melissa Roth

Vice President and General Counsel

Ms. Roth joined Global Rescue from Holland and Knight, LLP, where she was a corporate litigation attorney. She previously worked in the Institutional Client Group at Lehman Brothers and was drafted to play professional soccer by the Atlanta Beat of the Women’s United Soccer Association (WUSA). Ms. Roth graduated from Dartmouth College, where she was an All-Ivy soccer player, and received her JD with honors from the University of Connecticut School of Law. She serves on the advisory board of Soccer Without Borders and the Dartmouth Women’s Soccer team.
Arnold S. Seid

Vice President and Medical Director

Dr. Seid joined Global Rescue in 2004 and is responsible for overseeing global medical operations. He brings over 25 years of experience as a Board-Certified surgeon and has served as a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Southern California. Previously, he was the Chief of Staff at St. John’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Dr. Seid founded Millennium Medical and OR Technologies, focusing on surgical garment protection and operating room fire suppression systems. He is a graduate of Tulane University and the University of California at San Francisco Medical School.
Michael Holmes

Vice President, Sales and Marketing

Mr. Holmes leads sales and marketing at Global Rescue. Before joining, he held senior roles at IBM, including Program Director for The Weather Company, Watson Solutions and WebSphere Software. Mr. Holmes graduated from The University of Rochester and earned his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Business School.
Stuart L. Richards

Former Senior Vice President

Mr. Richards joined Global Rescue in 2004 and led business development and special projects. His background includes over 25 years as a real estate developer, focusing on vacation and leisure properties in New England. He completed projects at major ski areas such as Killington and Sugarbush. Previously, Mr. Richards worked in human resources at Citigroup Inc. and General Electric and served in the United States Marine Corps. He graduated from Dartmouth College, where he played rugby and rowed crew.
Marietta Formanek

Vice President, Chief Financial Officer

Ms. Formanek is responsible for accounting and finance operations at Global Rescue. She joined from Picaboo Yearbooks, where she was Director of Finance. Previously, she held senior finance positions at Orvis Co. and AI Squared. Ms. Formanek started her career at KPMG and founded her own accounting firm. She serves on the board of the Vermont Make-A-Wish Foundation and is a member of the Handel Society at Dartmouth College. She graduated from the University of Connecticut as an Honors Scholar.
Aatif Kamal

Vicepresidente de Tecnologías de la Información

Ms. Taylor leads strategic workforce planning and development at Global Rescue. She joined from Cure Blindness Project and Honda R&D Americas, where she supported global talent and operations. Ms. Taylor holds a Master’s in Human Resources and Employment Relations from Penn State University, where she also earned her BA. She is certified by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM-CP).
Joe Hedges

Vice President, Legal

Mr. Hedges provides legal and transactional support at Global Rescue. Prior to joining, he was the founder and managing partner at Springboard IP Counsel. He also held senior counsel roles at Activision Publishing and TV Guide, Inc. Mr. Hedges earned his JD from the University of Tulsa College of Law.
David Koo

Medical Operations Director and Former Combat Medic

Mr. Koo is responsible for managing active operations and leading the U.S.-based medical operations staff at Global Rescue. He joined Global Rescue from Khoo Teck Puat Hospital in Singapore, where he was the Operations Manager. Previously, Mr. Koo served as Assistant Operations Manager with International SOS and as a Staff Nurse in the Emergency Department at National University Hospital. Prior to that, he was a Combat Medic with the Singapore Armed Forces. Mr. Koo graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore and earned his Master’s in Health Administration from Flinders University in Australia.
Harding Bush

Security Operations Director and Former Navy SEAL

Mr. Bush is responsible for managing security operations at Global Rescue. He spent more than 20 years as a U.S. Navy SEAL, serving as Platoon Leading Senior Chief for SEAL Team Eight and Command Senior Chief of the Navy’s Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape (SERE) Course. After leaving the armed forces, Mr. Bush held international security leadership roles for Jannah Hunt Oil Company in Yemen and worked as a security advisor for the Ogontz Group and Harke Strategic. Mr. Bush is a graduate of Norwich University, where he earned both his Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees.
Walter Powell

Intelligence & Information Expert and Former U.S. Air Force Intelligence Watch Chief

Mr. Powell is responsible for intelligence gathering and information delivery at Global Rescue. He joined from International SOS, where he was a Regional Manager of Information and Analysis. Mr. Powell also served as a Project Coordinator with Velocitel, Inc. and held several roles as an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Air Force, including Intelligence Watch Chief, Intelligence Collection Manager, and Chinese Linguist. Mr. Powell graduated from Hawaii Pacific University.
Dan Stretch

Medical Operations Senior Manager and Paramedic

Mr. Stretch manages active operations and oversees the Philippines-based operations staff at Global Rescue. He joined in 2015 from International SOS in Qatar, where he managed Emergency Medical Services for the world's largest gas-to-liquids plant. Previously, Mr. Stretch worked as a paramedic with the UK National Health Service, specializing as a motorcycle paramedic in Central London. He earned his Bachelor’s in Paramedic Science from the University of Hertfordshire.
Fernando Lopez Medina

Security Operations Supervisor

Fernando R. Lopez Medina manages security operations at Global Rescue, leveraging his extensive military experience. He began his career in the 82nd Airborne Division before joining the Special Operations Ranger Regiment, where he deployed to Afghanistan and Syria. He later became a Green Beret, serving as a Senior Weapons Sergeant and conducting counternarcotics operations in South America. Fernando holds a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from American Military University and founded the Stay Living Foundation, a non-profit supporting Special Operations veterans.
Kent Webber

Senior Manager of Intelligence Products & Services and Former Pentagon Intelligence Officer

Mr. Webber is responsible for intelligence products and services at Global Rescue in the Americas. He previously served as a Senior Intelligence Operations Officer in the U.S. Pentagon. Mr. Webber had a distinguished 20-year career in the U.S. Army, culminating in Battalion Command and retirement as a Lieutenant Colonel. He holds a Master’s from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor’s from the University of Vermont.
Jeff Weinstein

Medical Operations Manager and Certified Wilderness Paramedic

Mr. Weinstein supervises U.S.-based Medical Operations teams at Global Rescue. He joined from American Medical Response Ambulance Service and has held roles as Medical Control Officer/Paramedic at New Mexico State University Fire and EMS Department. Mr. Weinstein earned his Paramedicine degree from NMSU’s Doña Ana Community College, his FP-C certification, and studied austere medicine and mountain rescue at the University of New Mexico.
Knox Taylor

Senior Manager, Enterprise Sales

Mr. Taylor leads Global Rescue’s Enterprise Sales division, focusing on medical, security, and travel risk management services for corporations, governments, and NGOs. He joined Global Rescue after a distinguished career as a civilian intelligence officer and U.S. Navy SEAL, with experience in the Middle East and Eastern Europe. Mr. Taylor graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in Ocean Engineering.
Michael Lovely, MD

Medical Operations Supervisor

Dr. Lovely supervises medical operations at Global Rescue Pacific LLC in the Philippines. He has extensive experience supporting rescues and evacuations in the Everest region and the Himalayas. Previously, Dr. Lovely coordinated medical missions in high-altitude and remote environments. He holds a medical degree and brings operational expertise in emergency assistance worldwide.
Claudia Zegans, MD

Associate Medical Director

Dr. Zegans oversees medical operations at Global Rescue. She has held positions in internal medicine and pediatrics at Dartmouth College and Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. Dr. Zegans also served as an Associate Professor at Dartmouth Medical School and Clinical Director of the Pediatric Outpatient Clinic. She graduated from Stanford University and the University of San Francisco Medical School, and also studied at Harvard Business School.
Eric Johnson

MD, Associate Medical Director

Dr. Johnson leads medical operations at Global Rescue. An expert in wilderness and altitude medicine, he served as President of the Wilderness Medical Society and remains on its Board of Directors. Dr. Johnson also serves on the Board of Directors of the Himalaya Rescue Association and has volunteered as a physician at Mt. Everest ER. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and its Medical School.
Gail Fancher

DO, Associate Medical Director

Dr. Fancher leads medical operations at Global Rescue. She served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force, earning the rank of Lt. Colonel, and participated in over 10,000 aeromedical evacuations. Dr. Fancher was deployed six times, treating both combat and non-combat injuries. She graduated from the University of Kansas and received her DO from the University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine, and an MPH from Tulane University.
Philip Seidenberg

MD, Associate Medical Director

Dr. Seidenberg oversees medical operations at Global Rescue. He spent five years practicing medicine in Lusaka, Zambia, and later led healthcare improvement initiatives at Massachusetts General Hospital’s Center for Global Health. He also served as an attending physician at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas. Dr. Seidenberg graduated from the University of South Carolina and the Stanford University School of Medicine.
Zaiga Sears DO, CPE

Associate Medical Director, Elite Medical Group.

Dr. Sears is responsible for leading medical operations at Global Rescue. She is a Colonel in the USAF and serves as Medical Director of the Family Health Clinic, 99th Healthcare Operations Squadron. Dr. Sears has served as Chief of Medical Staff and Family Physician at military treatment facilities worldwide. She holds a DO from Western University of Health Sciences and CPE from the American Association for Physician Leadership.
Victor Cruz, RN, DNP, CNS

Medical Operations Supervisor

Dr. Cruz is a highly experienced clinician and educator with over 25 years in critical care. A former U.S. Navy Hospital Corpsman, he has served in leadership roles throughout Puerto Rico, specializing in adult, pediatric, and neonatal intensive care. Dr. Cruz is an advocate for telehealth and clinical quality and currently leads the Dorado Health Care Initiative to improve health outcomes in the region.
Mark Tenerowicz

Associate Medical Director Medical Operations

Dr. Tenerowicz leads medical operations at Global Rescue. An emergency room physician, he has two decades of experience in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut hospitals. He is also a Major in the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corps with three tours of duty in Kuwait, Afghanistan, and Iraq. He earned his MD from Brown University School of Medicine and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Trinity College.
Bernice Marie Regina A. San Luis

Senior Analyst Intelligence Operations

Ms. San Luis is a senior intelligence analyst based in Manila, Philippines, working in the Ops-Intelligence department. Since 2017, she has monitored emerging global risks, including civil unrest, health crises, and geopolitical events. She produces intelligence reports to support client decision-making. Outside of work, she is a fitness enthusiast who enjoys weight training and running marathons.
Nathan Elder

Associate Medical Director Medical Operations

Dr. Elder is an emergency medicine physician based in Manchester, New Hampshire, affiliated with Elliot Hospital. He specializes in treating acute and life-threatening conditions and has over 20 years of experience. Dr. Elder received his medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine.
Ralf Hilber

Medical Operations Supervisor

Mr. Hilber supports global medical operations and crisis response at Global Rescue. Originally from Germany, he moved to the U.S. at age 11 and became a U.S. citizen in 1989. He served in the U.S. Army and later worked as a paramedic before joining Global Rescue’s Operations Department. Mr. Hilber coordinates international medical assistance and advises members on navigating healthcare systems globally.
Flor de Jasmin Agustin

Supervisor Medical Operations

Ms. Agustin supervises the Manila-based Medical Operations team at Global Rescue. She joined in 2016 as one of the first members of the Manila office. Prior to joining, Ms. Agustin was an Operating Theatre Nurse, specializing in Cardiothoracic Surgery at one of the top hospitals in the Philippines. She earned her Bachelor’s in Nursing from Makati Medical Center College of Nursing.
