(Lebanon, NH – November 2, 2026) South Africa is the favorite adventure destination followed by the United States and Argentina, according to the world’s most experienced international travelers responding to the Global Rescue Fall 2026 Traveler Sentiment and Safety Survey. Nepal ranks first among non-US respondents, while the US tops the list among women respondents.

“Adventure has no single capital,” said Dan Richards, CEO of The Global Rescue Companies. “South Africa leads the overall ranking, but the differences between groups show why there is no one-size-fits-all adventure traveler. A favorite destination is a personal choice, not a universal prescription.”

US and Non-US Travelers Choose Different Adventure Destination Leaders

US respondents favored South Africa, followed by the US, Argentina, New Zealand and Canada. Non-US respondents ranked Nepal first, followed by Italy. Australia, Mongolia and South Africa tied for third. South Africa was the only destination appearing in both groups’ top five.

Non-US respondents were nearly eight times as likely as US respondents to select Nepal as their favorite adventure destination and nearly 14 times as likely to choose Mongolia. For New Zealand, US respondents were nearly seven times as likely as non-US respondents to select it.

Men Favor South Africa; Women Choose the US

Men ranked South Africa first for adventure, followed by Argentina, the US, Canada and Australia. Women placed the US first for adventure, followed by South Africa, New Zealand, Argentina and Italy. Men were nearly three times as likely as women to select Canada. Women were nearly 50 percent more likely than men to select New Zealand.

“A great adventure starts with curiosity, but it should also include a plan for getting help,” Richards said. “Know the risks, understand the limits of local assistance and decide before departure how you would respond to a medical or security emergency.”
